Free drawing now with “Tables” and “Pages before and after the automatic wiring diagram”

News

Hello everyone,

We’ve released a new version of Free Drawing that introduces a new element: the table.

In addition, Free Drawing pages can now be placed both before and after the automatic wiring diagram pages.

Tables

Until now, cover pages and other text layouts had to be created and arranged as individual notes. With tables, you can now create these drawings more efficiently.

To get started quickly with tables, you can select our new template directly when creating a new page. As an example, it includes a design verification to DIN EN 61439 with multiple tables.

The template is on page 2:

… and includes the following cover page, which you can use as the basis for your specific drawing:

How do I place my own tables?

The “Table” element is on the left in the tree, directly under the general device. From there, you can place it directly on the canvas via drag & drop.

How do I edit tables?

As soon as a table is selected, the following editing options appear:

  1. Edit entire table – clicking the icon opens a menu where you can change the following properties for the entire table:
    • Text size
    • Alignment
    • Draw cells / Don’t draw cells
  2. Edit columns – clicking the icon opens a menu where you can change the following properties for the column:
    • Text size
    • Alignment
    • Insert column left/right
    • Delete column
  3. Edit rows – clicking the icon opens a menu where you can change the following properties for the row:
    • Text size
    • Alignment
    • Insert row below/above
    • Delete row
  4. The familiar options like “duplicate” and “delete” that other elements like frames and notes have are also available for tables.
  5. Between the columns there’s a line you can drag left and right with the mouse to change the column widths.
  6. To the right of the table and below the table, you can add additional columns and rows directly.

Double-click a cell to edit its text directly; press “Tab” to jump to the next cell and quickly edit cell contents:

Pages before and after the automatic wiring diagram

In the “Manage pages” menu, there’s now an entry called “automatic wiring diagram pages”. Free Drawing pages can be arranged above and below it, so they can also be placed before the automatic wiring diagram.
